Women's Rights

Le Petit Festival du Théâtre 2011: European 'Women's Rights' Today - Women's rights are entitlements and freedoms claimed for women and girls of all ages in many societies.

In some places these rights are institutionalized or supported by law, local custom, and behaviour, whereas in others they may be ignored or suppressed. They differ from broader notions of human rights through claims of an inherent historical and traditional bias against the exercise of rights by women and girls in favour of men and boys.

Issues commonly associated with notions of women's rights include, though are not limited to, the right: to bodily integrity and autonomy; to vote (suffrage); to hold public office; to work; to fair wages or equal pay; to own property; to education; to serve in the military or be conscripted; to enter into legal contracts; and to have marital, parental and religious rights.

Artists have been invited to create works of art inspired by our 2011 theme: European Women's Rights Today. Join us this year between June 24-July 2 in the magic city of Dubrovnik for an art gathering and celebration of what women so far worldwide have achieved!

Quote

When I was little boy...

I used to observe the sailing boats in the old port while contemplating; When I grow up, I will do the same. I will become a captain and I will bring gifts to Dubrovnik... as the ancient sailors used to do. Unusual trees... flowers... and perfumes... which are even yet today on Lokrum. Like the moment of falling in love, that never grows old! Do you still remember, his or her hand is approaching yours... a tongue... a small orange train full of chocolate crumbs and soft shouts; “O God! Kiss me... encore... and more... and more. This is more beautiful than any cappuccino I ever drank”! No, I did not become a captain! That’s perhaps why Le Petit Festival du Théâtre was created. Maria Tecce, Lisa Bryce, Gilbert Peyre, Les Folles de Leon, Barbara Medo, Josephia Conrad... are the flowers and trees that I bring to my city.

Jezik... taj mali narančasti vlak, pun mrvica čokolade i nježnih uzvika; “O Bože.! Ljubi me još i još... i još... this is more beautiful then any cappucino I ever drank”! No ja nisam postao kapetan... eto tako je nastao Le Petit festival du Théâtre. Maria Tecce, Lisa Bryce, Les Folles de Leon, Barbara Medo, Follemente, Josephia Conrad, Gilbert Peyre... eto to su cvjetovi i stabla koje donosim mome gradu.
